Board Game Club Tuesday 3/24

Dear Parents,

A wild idea shuffled into my head, and I decided to roll with it! Here’s the deal - SECA will be having a Board Game Club activity after school. This club will broaden the horizons of the students who make it a point to participate, encouraging them to experience new and diverse games that will challenge them intellectually while having fun! They certainly won’t be board. Pastor Krohn and I have a large library of games to draw from, so students are bound to check out a game (or two, or three) that suits them and will capture their hearts. We play some games that are real diamonds, and we have them in spades. Students should definitely come check it out. This could start a domino effect, and they might become gaming kings and queens!

The Board Game Club is available for students 6th grade and up. It will run after school from 3pm-5pm. We encourage students to bring snacks if they like, but dinner will not be provided. Students will have to be picked up by their parents at 5pm. Please fill out the permission slip below and return it to Pastor Rickner in order to participate.

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin Rickner

SECA RUMMAGE SALE

Dear Parent,

The SECA Rummage Sale begins this Friday! The sale will be on Friday, March 13st from 10am-5pm, and on Saturday, March 2nd from 9am-2pm. We are excited about the sale, as it is one of our biggest fundraisers for the school.  Please invite your friends and family to the Rummage Sale, and be sure to stop by yourself!

Students in grades 7-12 should dress down on Thursday March 12th to help set up for the sale. On Friday, March 13th students in grades 7-12 must wear their gym uniforms all day to associate them with the school as they will be spending part of the day helping with the rummage sale.  If a student does not wear the school uniforms on Friday they will not be allowed to help with the sale.

Also, students in grades 6 and below should wear normal school attire on Thursday and Friday.

We will not be having gym class.  Furthermore, students will be eating lunch in the classrooms on Thursday and Friday because the gym will be used for the sale.

The school is still accepting donations for the rummage sale!  Donations should be dropped off at the church by Thursday afternoon. Please call the church office if you have any questions (388-0850).

Thank you for your support!

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin Rickner

Bussing Forms

Good morning parents,

Please remember to check with your school district's transportation department about bussing forms for the 2026-27 school year. Most districts require you to register your children for bussing by April 1st. If the district requires the school to sign the form, please let me know.

Sledding Reward Activity!

Hello Parents,

This is a reminder that tomorrow is the sledding reward activity for K-6th graders! 7th-12th grade will have their activity on Friday. All students K-12 who ride the bus should bring their sleds to church tonight, and it is encouraged to write their names on the sleds with permanent marker so that there is no confusion. They can be stored neatly in the back of the teen room. Please ensure that all sleds return home Thursday or Friday, as we do not want any left here for the Sunday services.

Students will be required to dress warmly (dress in layers, winter coats, hats, gloves, etc.) in order to go out. If any girls would like to wear snow pants, they must wear culottes or a long, loose skirt that meets SECA dress code over the top of it. They will be allowed to dress down all day, and they must bring a change of clothes in case they get wet.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

In Christ,

Pastor Rickner

Where Character Matters!

1850 Rt. 250 / Penfield, NY 14526 / 585.388.0850 / Pastor Kevin Rickner

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

February 9, 2026

Dear Parents,

We are planning a reward activity for good character - sledding! Any students who had fewer than 5 character essays last semester (1st and 2nd quarter combined) will be eligible.

The plan is to have the juniors go outside at the church in the morning on Thursday 2/12, and for the seniors to go to Harris Whalen Park in the morning on Friday 2/13. Classes will resume for the day after both activities.

The students will be allowed to bring their sleds to church Wednesday night. Parents, please ensure that all sleds are brought home before Sunday services

Students will be required to dress warmly (dress in layers, winter coats, hats, gloves, etc.) in order to go out. If any girls would like to wear snow pants, they must wear culottes or a long, loose skirt that meets SECA dress code over the top of it.

On Thursday 2/12, Juniors (K-6th grade) will be allowed to dress down all day, and they must bring a change of clothes in case they get wet.

On Friday 2/13, Seniors (7th-12th grade) will be allowed to dress down all day, and they must bring a change of clothes in case they get wet.

For all grades, we will provide hot chocolate afterward to warm up!

At SECA, we hold godly character in high regard, and we are excited to reward those students who exhibit it on a consistent basis.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you for your support.

In Christ,

Kevin Rickner

Q2 Report Cards

Hello Parents,

Soon SECA report cards for the 2nd quarter will be issued. It is important that parents are informed of how their children are doing in school so that you can help keep them on track and accountable. You will see two copies of the report card for each student. One is for you to keep, and the other is to be signed and returned back to the school. This is to ensure that we know the report cards are making it to the parents. If you have not seen report cards by the end of next week, please let me know.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

In Christ,

Pastor Rickner
